Hakim Ziyech – One of Chelsea’s Best Deals?

The Blues’ have had their fair share of transfer market turmoil among other issues in the past. From not being able to secure a player’s signature, to losing out on the last minute and to making a frantic buy of players who came and ‘flopped.’
Just last month at the Stamford Bridge, the Premier League match between Chelsea and Arsenal ended in 2-2. Truth be told Frank Lampard’s side has been finding it difficult to maintain consistency in the past few months. In fact, both sides have been facing the same challenge. This is not surprising as both managers have limited experience. After playing for Chelsea for 13 years, Frank was considered as the perfect candidate for the managerial position.
In another development, Chelsea was rescued from Hull City in the FA Cup fourth-round clash at the KCOM Stadium by Michy Batshuayi and Fikayo Tomori’s goals. Most recently, the likes of goal poacher Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Moratta, Danny Drinkwater, and Ross Barkley haven’t lived up to their billing at the London club. While the latter is injury prone, the first two found the English game quite daunting and exhaustive and didn’t have what it requires to perform at top levels consistently.
Kepa Arrizabagala, Chelsea’s young first choice goalie, was bought for around £75 million, making him the most expensive goalkeeper in the Premier League. However, statistically, his game has degenerated and he has the worst records amongst the goalies in the EPL.
Ever since taking the helm of affairs at Chelsea, club legend Frank had not made any new signings. Instead, the former Chelsea midfielder called back all the young players that were loaned out and gave them a chance to shine.
Players like Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Reece James are some of the Chelsea players who never had a chance to feature for the club before Lampard. However, despite the trials, the coach still thinks it is time to bring in some experience and he looks the way of Moroccan star, Hakim Ziyech.
Ziyech is currently an Ajax player but will move to London when the season ends. The player was instrumental when Ajax ground out a draw at Stamford Bridge in a Champions League group game earlier in the season.
Hakim Ziyech is known to score goals and create assists at will and the 26-year old is often referred to as one of the most reliable attacking midfielders in the world.
The former FC Twente player rose to prominence since the last two seasons, making 24 assists and scoring 21 goals in 49 games last season. The lack of creativity in the Chelsea midfield would be one of the reasons Lampard settled for the Dutch-born Moroccan playmaker.
Former Chelsea star, Glen Johnson says he is shocked that the club could pull off a buy like Ziyech for as small as £37.8 million. The deal is mostly talked about because Manchester United recently acquired the signature of a player of similar quality in Bruno Fernandes for £46.6 million. After being out with injury, Ziyech made a statement with his comeback when his side trumped Vitesse by 3-0 in the Dutch Cup. After the game, Erik ten Hag (Ajax head coach) told the press that his topmost performer would soon be joining Chelsea after the end of the current season.
Nevertheless, none of these issues is stopping football fans from placing bets on their favorite teams. A high level of security and transparency are just a few of the reasons why many punters opt for NJ sports betting online.Considering the way inflation is rocking the transfer market, getting a player with Ziyech’s qualities is quite cheap. The big question now is, will Ziyech replicate these qualities in the Premier League? Will he prove to be one of Chelsea’s best deals or will he fade into the background like the others?
Well, we hope for the best!
